Dry Needling

Release. Reset. Recover.

Dry needling uses thin, sterile, single-use monofilament needles placed precisely into myofascial trigger points and dysfunctional muscle tissue. The goal is to elicit a local twitch response that releases tight, overactive muscle bands, reduces pain, and helps restore normal firing and movement. Despite the needles, it is distinct from acupuncture and is grounded in musculoskeletal and neuromuscular assessment.

What it may help with

  • Chronic muscle tightness and trigger points
  • Sports injuries
  • Neck and back pain
  • Tension headaches
  • Movement restrictions tied to overactive muscles

What a session looks like

After identifying the target trigger points, Dr. Rodis inserts fine needles into the muscle. You may feel a brief twitch response or a deep ache as the point releases, which is a normal part of the process. Sessions are focused and the needles are removed once treatment is complete.

Who it's for

Dry needling suits patients with trigger points, muscle tightness, or referred pain that has been slow to resolve. It is not appropriate for everyone, and Dr. Rodis assesses whether it fits your presentation and comfort before recommending it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?
No. While both use fine needles, dry needling targets specific muscular trigger points based on a musculoskeletal assessment, whereas acupuncture is rooted in a different traditional framework.
Does it hurt?
The needle insertion is usually barely felt. When a trigger point releases you may feel a quick twitch or a deep, brief ache. Most patients tolerate it well and feel looser afterward.
